Keloğlan Mağarası , Denizli'nin Acıpayam ilçesindeki Dodurgalar'da, Denizli–Antalya yolundan üç kilometre içeride yer alıyor. 1990'a kadar yalnızca çobanlar biliyordu. Maden Tetkik ve Arama'nın incelemesinin ardından ziyarete hazırlandı ve 2003'te açıldı; bugün Türkiye'de halka açık yaklaşık otuz mağaradan biri.
Ziyaret güzergâhı, ortalama beş-altı metre yüksekliğindeki odalar boyunca 145 metre uzanıyor. İçeride sarkıtlar, dikitler, ikisinin birleştiği sütunlar, ince spagetti sarkıtlar ve duvarlardan akan akmataşı örtüleri var. Mağara adını, bir çoban efsanesine dayanarak Türk halk masallarının Keloğlan'ından alıyor.
Yer üstünde, Acıpayam is canyon and upland country, quiet and largely empty of visitors. The canyon has been cut by water down through limestone, leaving steep rock walls above a narrow valley floor, with a stream running along the bottom for most of the year and still pools standing in it through the summer.
We stop first at the viewpoints along the rim, where the ground drops away below you and the whole length of the valley lines up in one view. Then we walk a short, easy section of the floor between the walls — no climbing and no special equipment, but the ground is uneven and can be wet. Poplars and wild figs grow along the water, birds of prey work the updraughts against the cliffs, and the light moves quickly across the rock through the morning, which makes this the best stop of the day for photographs. The pace is unhurried and there is time to sit down by the water before we move on.
The combination is the point of the day: an hour underground among formations that took millennia to build, and open canyon country either side of it. Comfortable, non-slip shoes are essential — the surfaces inside the cave are wet, and so are the rocks along the stream.
